There’s nothing like escaping to a beach house on the weekends for sun-kissed days by the sea and warm nights around the firepit. So what makes the quintessential beach house? Here are our five beach house design essentials.

An indoor-outdoor layout. A serious component in designing your dream beach house is to have an open and connected indoor-outdoor layout. This allows for a blending of rooms for the best entertaining and lets the outdoor breeze in.

Beachy décor. Think nautical, with blues and white around the room. Don’t forget to have durable furnishings that can handle all sorts of weather.

An outdoor shower. The best and easiest way to rinse off the salt and sand from the beach.

Natural light. Let all that natural light in through big windows and sliding pocket doors. It’s also important to have proper ventilation in your home with whole house fans or central A/Cs.

An unobstructed view. Make sure you are still able to see that expanding ocean view from your lanai or deck with durable stainless steel IC railings.
