The rollout of new hues makes us excited to see the upcoming trends in the world of color and interior design — so it’s no surprise that we were thrilled to see Sherwin-Williams’ pick for the new year.

Taking inspiration from the roaring ‘20s and diving into a new neutral — Sherwin-Williams announced its Color of the Year as Naval, a rich navy hue where “Art Deco meets the serenity of a yoga studio.”

Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, describes naval as a grounding color, “reminiscent of the night sky, which people have looked to for centuries for guidance, as a muse and as a reminder to live more mindfully.”

She also predicts that for this next decade of color, we’re going to be seeing a whole lot of bold hues. “This year we saw the return of the ‘70s, and next year we think the vibrant energy and luxurious design of speakeasies will make a comeback,” she adds. “Naval merges the desire for rich, inspiring color with our yearning for relaxation and retreat. In the next 10 years, we’ll continue to move away from omnipresent neutrals and design will feel more personal again.”

To design with Naval in your home, pair it with luxurious finishes, like marble or mixed metallics. Learn more at www.swcoty.com or visit your local Sherwin-Williams store.
