While you’re keeping yourself clean and safe with hand sanitizer, ritual handwashing with antibacterial soap and social distancing — make sure you are keeping your home cleansed as well. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) shares on its website what you need to know about COVID-19, from the spread and symptoms of it to how to prepare yourself and your home. Here are the CDC’s recommendations for cleaning and disinfecting your home.

For starters, always wear disposable gloves while cleaning and disinfecting — this includes care of surfaces, dishes and laundry, too.

Clean and disinfect highly-touched surfaces often. For instance, tables, desks, handles, doorknobs, keyboard, toilet, faucets, and more. (If you live in condos, be mindful of elevator buttons, doorknobs and other frequently touched surfaces in shared common areas. Try to minimize interaction by using napkins or your elbows to push the buttons instead of using your fingers.)

Don’t forget the soft surfaces — rugs, curtains, bedding, dog beds — these all need to be cleaned as well.
