Keeping up with the community.
Editor's Notes: December 2023-January 2024

Our Hawaii Home + Remodeling team knows a thing or two about resourcefulness.

Need a feature article done beautifully and creatively? With some quick brainstorming, our editorial and art crew can make words and photos shine. Not sure about your business’s marketing direction? Our savvy sales squad can put together digital and print plans to place your shop or service in front of new customers.

Resourcefulness seems to have been the general theme for Hawaii Home + Remodeling in 2023. I’m proud of how our small but mighty staff has put its time, energy and ingenuity into rebuilding the brand’s presence. From adding a new publication to our magazine calendar with the recently launched Hawaii Disaster Preparation Guide, to upping our networking game at local events — we’ve been working smarter and harder to serve our readers and community.

And, gratefully, we’re having fun along the way.

Knowing who to turn to for a project — and finding the right people for collaboration, credibility and skillful execution — is what resourcefulness is all about. This issue features our annual Resource Guide, which puts you in touch with industry professionals for a variety of home needs. The Resource Guide is a good edition to keep on-hand year-round; we’ve added a new section of company profiles to help you get to know some of our key partners.

The December/January issue also highlights the Coral House on Maui, our 2023 Editor’s Choice Award winner from the AIA Design Awards Gala. We visit a bold Kailua kitchen, and check out a reader-submitted remodel from first-time homeowners in Hawaii Kai as well. It heartens me to see so much innovation in architecture, design and construction in the Islands.

With that, we look ahead to 2024. What great things will the new year bring? We can’t wait to hear more from our readers, local businesses and builders — and share more stories of what makes home in Hawaii so special.

May December and January fill your abode with aloha and the warmth of ohana. Mahalo for reading!

Aloha,
