HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union is committed to helping its members through life events, many of which relate to homeownership and home improvements, such as renovations, additions and, now, accessory dwelling units.

The City and County of Honolulu’s new ordinance that allows homeowners to build small, affordable housing units on their properties is one that HawaiiUSA is committed to helping its members pursue.

“By our credit union providing resources for ADUs such as sponsoring seminars, participating in home shows and financing options, we are helping them and their financial dreams come true.”

HawaiiUSA FCU, a member of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii since 2011, has taken advantage of opportunities to learn more about ADUs in an effort to help its members afford to invest in their own properties, while also supporting efforts to ease the affordable housing crisis in our community. “We want to be able to help improve our members’ lives. By our credit union providing resources for ADUs such as sponsoring seminars, participating in home shows and financing options, we are helping them and their financial dreams come true,” says Scott Kaulukukui, senior vice president and director of marketing and community outreach at HawaiiUSA.

HawaiiUSA representatives recently spoke about the latest options available to finance an ADU project at the BIA-Hawaii Home Building and Remodeling Show’s ADU seminar in January. Kaulukukui explains, “We can provide members and non-members options to help finance their home projects. Whether it’s a First or Second Mortgage or Home Equity Line of Credit, we are flexible and will work with them to find the financing program that best fits their budget and goals.”
