A new monthly open-air market will showcase up-and-coming as well as more-established home designers and creators whose wares can be difficult to find if you don’t know where to look.
Realtor Danielle Scherman is launching the first Aloha Home Market on July 23 in Kailua. It will feature a couple dozen of Hawaii’s finest home furnishings, plants, décor and accessory businesses. Scherman and her team are carefully curating the businesses that will participate to ensure a diverse group with high-quality products for the open-air market.
Most of the vendors do not sell their items in stores, but rather direct to consumers on their websites and social-media accounts. “Rather than having to scour the internet and do research themselves, people can go to one place and see them,” Scherman says.
Participants in the first Aloha Home Market include John Reyno of Hawaii Modern, a mid-century-modern furniture collector and restorer; Local Ia, a Community Supported Fishery; Mrs. HaoleBrownie, a surfboard artist; and Momo Terrascapes, a mother-and-son pair that handmakes succulent arrangements and terrariums.
“We are creating a community, almost like an emerging showcase of home vendors,” Scherman says. “It’s going to be a really fun atmosphere.”
Aloha Home Market attendees will have the opportunity to speak with the vendors, shop their displays of items for purchase and place custom orders for their homes.
“We are creating a community, almost like an emerging showcase of home vendors.”
