Architect John Hara Wins 2017 Medal of Honor

The American Institute of Architects Hawaii State Council (AIA Hawaii), in partnership with the Hawaii Architectural Foundation, has named legendary local architect John Hara, FAIA the 2017 Medal of Honor honoree.
This is the highest accolade that the Hawaii State Council bestows and represents only the eighth time that the Medal of Honor has been awarded in its nearly 20-year history.
Hara will receive the Medal of Honor on Oct. 21 at the Honolulu Museum of Art, where he has designed a number of projects – including two major additions – throughout his five-decade career. His work has been recognized with more than 55 design awards from organizations around the world.
