9 of Our Favorite Spaces This Year
Gorgeous homes we’ve seen in 2021.

Every issue of Hawaii Home + Remodeling features outstanding new homes, renovations and/or outdoor projects. Here’s a look back at some of our favorite spaces we’ve featured in 2021.
Paradise Found
This charming property on Hawaii Island has remarkable views of Waipio Valley and the Pacific Ocean. There’s a main house, additional farm dwelling, as well as upper and lower pastures, fruit trees, raised garden beds and so much more.
A Home for All Ages
The goal for this energy-efficient home was to integrate design, form and function in order to create a multigenerational abode for a growing family. It was also important to create space for entertaining guests and room for the kids to run and play.
Built with Purpose
This dazzling residence in Aina Haina is a couple’s dream home. It boasts unobstructed ocean views and has three-bedrooms, two full baths and two half-baths; a large office; media room and open-concept kitchen and dining area.
Hidden Oasis
An enchanting garden is filled with vibrant colors and tropical foliage. Pavers naturally lead you to all the designated spaces. There’s a yard, lanai with seating and outdoor showers in the back. Custom art pieces are treasures found along the way, like the bird bath in the center.
Seaside Getaway
This newly built home in Laie is the epitome of beach-house living. Built on a 12,000-square-foot lot, the residence has ample parking in the front, a large yard in the back and offers four-bedrooms and 3 ½-bathrooms.
Beauty Blooms
A kitchen evolves to meet the needs of the owners — showcasing a modern and Japanese-inspired design. It blends simplicity and practicality with a nod to nature. This kitchen was previously featured on the cover of our October 2004 issue when it had a traditional look.
Grand Scale
This modern residence flourishes with high-end amenities and design. The whole place is orchestrated to easily connect and flow together. A favorite area is the piano room where the piano sits on a turntable to allow users to look out at the ocean or into the living room.
Pocketful of Sunshine
A refreshing backyard oasis lets the family soak up gorgeous views. The pool has a Bali ledge with lounger chairs and the spa has 10-12 jets at various heights. An outdoor shower allows them to rinse off before or after jumping into the water.
New Heights
An uplifting transformation takes this Pacific Heights home to the next level. The award-winning, contemporary-style residence has three levels, with the top floor being the main area of entertaining.
